About TangentWise
Researching the Companies and Technologies Shaping Tomorrow’s Economy
My goal with TangentWise is to build a high-signal resource focused on the technical and corporate foundations of the industrial world. Rather than covering mainstream technology headlines, the emphasis is on the specific products, companies, and research efforts that are meaningfully shaping robotics, manufacturing, and emerging R&D.
Coming from a corporate finance background, I’m particularly interested in how new technologies scale, costs compress, and products move from experimental to commercially viable. I want to understand how complex systems come together and, ultimately, how they reach the market. I’m as prone to getting excited about breakthrough tech as anyone and I’ll certainly be biased toward future-changing industrial tech over the next iPhone or SaaS tool. However, I’ll always bring the same level of scrutiny and execution to every story.
TangentWise documents research across several core areas. This includes profiling niche innovators in the hard-tech space that receive little mainstream attention but have the potential to influence their respective markets. It also includes occasional retrospective analysis that examines companies that failed, were acquired, or disappeared, in order to better understand why certain ideas stalled and where promising technologies ultimately landed.
The quality of sources is a priority and this site’s coverage is built around direct research rather than recycled news, drawing from academic pre-prints, institutional R&D labs, technical filings, and specialized industrial sources.
Ultimately, TangentWise is where I will document the businesses, technologies, and products I research, along with the resulting takeaways and insights I gather along the way. This journey of discovery will be fun for me, and I hope it can bring you value, as well.
